LEMON BALM MAGIC

Herb gardens are the easiest way to bring nature into your space and start the journey into growing your own food. I always suggest herb gardens as a starting point because first off, they are pretty inexpensive to start; so, if you kill it all it will not be a huge hit to your pockets. Secondly, they can easily grow in containers or pots in small areas like apartments, kitchens, and balconies. Last reason I suggest herb gardens are the smells! It makes a world of difference outside when you’re sitting and the breeze blows in a yummy collection of Lavender, Rosemary & Lemon Balm. Why we are chatting about Lemon Balm. Let me say Lemon Balm you are the bomb!

Today I thought I would highlight the many reasons why you should definitely be growing Lemon Balm in your garden. Some facts about L.B. is its original birthplace was the Mediterranean, and after years of trade it is grown in most regions now. Lemon Balm is a member of the Mint family, so if you are like me and dislike traditional mint flavors L.B. is a great way to enjoy the benefits without the peppermint affects. In addition, you can use the entire plant for something or another. The leaves, the steam, the flowers, the plant gives its total. Are you still deciding why you should plant it? Okay here are some more reasons why you need L.B. in your garden.

Lemon Balm not only makes amazing teas, waters, tinctures and rubs but it also greatly beneficial to the world around us. Bees love Lemon Balm. They love the yummy nectar on the flowers of the plant. (Side note you can dry the flowers and use inside your oils for inflammatory relief) We love Bees and what to see them thrive, but other bugs really are pest like mosquitoes, and ants. They hate the scent of Lemon Balm and steer pretty clear of the plant. So, having it on a patio or deck is really essential. L.B. is also the doctor of herbs, because there is nothing better than a Lemon Balm tincture for getting rid of cold and flu symptoms. In ancient times Lemon Balm was used to relieve fevers if used with wine; hints why tinctures require some type of alcohol. If you get cold sores use the plants leaves directly on the skin. Lemon Balm also helps with memory so if you are forgetful add it to your water daily to add a mental boost. If you prefer the scent used dried leaves in your smudges or directly over the stove. Because it smells so great in many cultures Lemon Balm is used as a sedative. So, feel anxious try adding it to your oil burners or chewing on the steams. Having trouble sleeping? Add it to your tea in the evening or, place a fresh cut bundle directly under your pillows. Into Witch work? When doing rituals or spells asking for healing, sleep, or cleansing make sure to add Lemon Balm into the burning request. Lemon Balm is absolutely amazing and even better for kids. Some herbs are strong and overpowering to taste but Lemon Balm is perfect for kids, especially those hyperactive kids. It’s basically natures chill out pill for the kiddos.

Now if you are still not convinced Lemon Balm its amazing well you are crazy, and I cannot say I didn’t try. But if you are running to your local nursey now make sure to pick up a few of them. Grow them in different locations around your home, that way you will have enough to try all the amazing things, but you will also have some when the winter months roll around to move into doors.
