Wake Up Blessed & Protected

Mornings can be a tough to get moving. Especially when the temperature is freezing, your bed is warm and welcoming, and your body is stiff. No one wants to jump out of bed into the world, which is why we all should have a morning routine. Unbelievably, a morning routine will help you breathe better throughout the day, stay calmer, and look leaner and taller. Depending on your period before you are out in the world; you should visit three categories to maintain your inner peace throughout the day.

SELF REFLECTION – This is your time to sit with silence and give space for reflection, gratitude, or forgiveness. We have all woken up on the wrong side of the bed and that feeling can haunt you all day, but you can change that haunting by simply reflecting before you leave your bed.

· Take 5 – 7 count inhales & exhales

· With the Inhales envision what you would like to bring into your inner world. (Daily accomplishments, positive adjectives)

· With the Exhales allow whatever is not nourishing your highest self to travel on that exhale

· Journal – talk about how you feel at that very moment. What you dreamed about; in full detail or as much as you can remember

· Pull a tarot card – Set the tone of the day by allowing spirit to chat with you

· Visit the mirror – Tell yourself three things that you are loving about YOU right now

WATER – Drink a least 16oz of water before you leave home. I keep a glass of water on my bedside table every night. This way every time I wake up to go to the bathroom or check on a sleepless child, I take a sip too. Then before I even move to get out of bed, I drink more water until that glass is gone. While I am making coffee and lunch, I will fill another glass and sip on that until we are running out the door. On those mornings where I have time to chill, I make sure to pour a large glass and sit it next to my coffee. As I am enjoying my morning Joe, I can also sneak sips of water too.

· Add fresh lemon to your water for an extra boost

· Room temperature is best for your body to absorb

· Immunity boost – take your water and add 2 tsp of Apple Cider Vinegar, two lemon slices and 1 tsp of turmeric and gulp till gone

MOVEMENT – I know you do not have time for a 30-minute asana practice, but these 3 morning asanas will help your body wake up.

Standing Side Bend - Standing Side Bend is a basic standing pose that stretches the spine and obliques and promotes better posture. This pose also strengthens the legs. If you are looking to stand taller and look leaner you should learn how to do Standing Side Bend. A pose like Standing Side Bend opens the entire torso and encourages you to stand taller.

Hold for five breaths on both sides.

Standing Cat & Cow - This breath-synchronized pose is beneficial for your body and mind. This simple pose powers up your brain and improves focus, coordination, and mental stability. The cat/cow pose improves blood circulation between the vertebrae of your spine, and it helps in relieving back pain and stress.

Do 5 Inhales & Exhales

Standing Half Backbend - Backbends are inherently energizing. They help to open the chest and strengthen the spine. Even a small backbend, performed correctly, will help give you a quick mood-booster and keep your spine healthy. This may sound a little too obvious, but the best way to modify a standing backbend is to bend less and/or provide yourself with more support. It takes dedication to build up to a deeper backbend and not risk injury, so always play it safe by listening for signs of pain in your body.

Hold for three breaths (inhales & exhales 3xs)

Now, go out and take the world by the balls! Let your light shine bright and enjoy that you have taken the extra step to secure your inner peace in a world full of chaos.
